Dear K-12 Partner and Community Partner,

In an abundance of caution in response to COVID-19, Rutgers University has adjusted campus operations, including ceasing on-campus classes until at least April 3. As a result, the Rutgers Ignite After School Program, due to impending staffing shortages, will cease operating effective Thursday, March 12, until further notice. We understand that this is unexpected and apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. The majority of the Rutgers Ignite staff are Rutgers University—Camden students and if they are not scheduled to come to campus for school we cannot ensure they will be able to commit to working in the afterschool program. As a licensed childcare provider by the state of New Jersey, we have to maintain a mandated staff-to-student ratio and cannot guarantee that we can meet the ratio without our Rutgers student staff.

The university will be re-assessing our status and we will keep you abreast of any changes as they occur and hope to provide you with more information by Friday, April 3.

Attached are flyers for Rutgers Ignite After School Program students and families in both English and Spanish.  Please reach out to Rutgers Ignite After School Project Director Tinishia Bass at (856) 225-6755 if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Michele Garcon
