March 23, 2020

Dear Camden City School District Families and Community Partners:

The primary purpose of the Camden City School District is to educate our young people in an environment that is safe and conducive to learning. In light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic, how we now educate our young people will look different. In compliance with Executive Order 104, signed by Governor Murphy on March 16, 2020, and readopted by Executive Order 107, signed on March 21, 2020, all elementary and secondary schools, including charter and renaissance schools, are to remain closed to students for as long as these Orders remain in effect.

As a reminder, the closure affects all school programming, including before- and after-school activities, all athletic and extracurricular practices and competitions during this time.

Continued Remote Learning

All students will continue to have access to learning. School Support members have prepared remote learning plans for our students. The learning plans will be available online and in hard copy formats.  These documents will be available to students every Monday and Thursday from 10AM - 12PM; during the distribution of meals at the below schools:

    • Woodrow Wilson High School, 3101 Federal St., 08105

    • Camden High, 1875 Park Blvd., 08103

    • Wiggins, 400 Mt. Vernon St., 08103

    • Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy, 990 Morgan Blvd., 08105

    • Yorkship, 1251 W Collings Ave, Camden, NJ 08104

Beginning Wednesday, March 25, 2020, parents should expect a call from their child’s teacher at least once a week. The teacher(s) will be calling to connect with your child to answer any questions, teach a mini-lesson, complete a math problem, read a book, etc. Most importantly we want your child to have a direct connection with his or her teacher. Please make sure the school has your most up to date contact information.  If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to your school leader.

Access to Internet and Technology

To better assess the technology needs of our students, we are asking families to complete the below surveys by Friday, March 27. Families unable to complete the surveys online may contact the Solutions Center at 856-966-2000 x38100 to provide their responses.

Access to Meals

Students will continue to have access to meals, breakfast and lunch, while the district is closed. Through continued partnership with school and community leaders across the city, the district will provide access to meals regardless of the school your child attends.

Effective March 23, 2020, meal sites will operate on Mondays and Thursdays, 10AM-12PM. On these days, students will be provided with shelf-stable meals for several days. Please visit the meal site that is closest to your home.  Below is the list of all meal sites across the city:

Spring Break

The district is scheduled to recognize spring break from April 10-17, 2020. During spring break, there will be no remote teaching or meal distributions. Remote learning and meal distribution will begin again on Monday, April 20, 2020.

While the district is closed, please continue to check our website for updates. Also, we encourage you to stay connected to faculty and staff via our district social media. We will get through this together. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Solution Center at 856-966-2000 x38100.
