Parental Involvement

The District is committed to keeping parents informed and involved. Parents play in important role in the welfare and education of their child. It is the parent/guardian’s right to know what their child is learning in school and the availability of programs offered by the district that will increase student success in school.

We encourage parents to be involved in the process. Parents can help the district by keeping us informed of changes in the home that may have an effect on student conduct and their ability to achieve. This includes changes in legal custody, moving to another part of the city, and health issues that may hinder the delivery of instruction a student receives.

Attending parent teacher conferences twice a year may not be enough for some students to succeed. Parents may need to meet with the school principal or the student’s teacher to discuss student performance and behavior. By working together, parents can ensure that their child receives the necessary services to enhance the learning experience. Now, more than ever, parents are empowered to insist on the highest quality education for their child and have the right to move from a failing school environment to a school where their child can receive the extra help he/she needs to achieve. Parental Involvement equals student achievement.

The U.S. Department of education offers resources for parents. Click on the link below to view information on how parents can help students become better academic achievers.
